Taking the conversation beyond Boston: women in Miami Beach talk openly, on camera, about wearing wigs and what confidence looks like for them.
Arlene Baldwin is the founder and CEO of Lace Layer and a Dorchester native. Diagnosed with alopecia at 17, she relied on her mother, who was also her hairstylist, to keep her hair loss hidden through the way she styled it. After her mother passed, Arlene had to learn to wear wigs on her own, and she realized women needed both reliable products and real education. So she built both.
Before Lace Layer, Arlene spent over 15 years in the nonprofit sector serving the Boston community, and she brings that same care for community building to Lace Layer. She is available for interviews on hair loss, wig wearing, and building a Black owned beauty brand.
