Founded in 2020 by Arlene Baldwin, who has battled alopecia since a young age, LaceLayer understands the importance of dependable, high-quality lace wig products that can keep up with an active lifestyle. Whether you’re a seasoned wig wearer, facing hair loss, or a hair care professional, LaceLayer empowers you to feel amazing and secure every day.

Arlene’s pathway to entrepreneurship was driven by her personal journey. Diagnosed with alopecia at the age of seventeen, she faced challenges finding reliable lace wig products, especially lace glue, that catered to her active lifestyle in a college town with limited hair product availability. For many years, she hid the fact that she was wearing a wig due to the stigma surrounding it, especially during a time when there was a societal push for natural hair. Wigs became her shield, allowing her to navigate the world without exposing her alopecia.

Throughout her life, Arlene’s mother, Pauletta, was her hairstylist, saving her from public embarrassment and allowing her to hide her alopecia without the need for salon visits. Tragically, Pauletta passed away five months after Arlene graduated from college. This loss left Arlene exposed and questioning how to move forward. However, her grief sparked a fire within her. She embraced wigs, refusing to choose between "natural" and "accepted."
