At just 17 years old, our Founder Arlene Baldwin was diagnosed with alopecia. Like so many others experiencing hair loss, she struggled to find lace wig products that felt secure and natural. What should have been a tool to restore confidence often led to frustration. But through this journey, she learned something powerful: confidence isn’t about choosing between wigs or natural hair it’s about owning your look, no matter what.
A Mother’s Influence, A Legacy of Strength
Arlene’s mother, Pauletta, was more than just her biggest supporter she was her first hairstylist, the one who showed her the beauty in every stage of her hair journey. From learning how to style wigs together to embracing every transformation, Pauletta helped shape Arlene’s vision of beauty.
When Pauletta passed away, grief could have consumed her. Instead, Arlene transformed that pain into purpose, creating Lace Layer a brand built to empower women to wear their wigs boldly, without stigma or struggle. Every product, every innovation, and every step forward is rooted in this mission: to provide secure, high-quality lace wig solutions for those who deserve to feel confident every day.
