LaceLayer Recognized by Ayanna Pressley at Empower You With Blue Alopecia Awareness Fundraiser

On September 15th, LaceLayer’s CEO, Arlene Baldwin, took the stage at the inaugural Alopecia Awareness Fundraiser: Empower You With Blue Fashion Show in Boston, MA. An event led by Carla Smith of Reesie’s Marvelous Hats & Wonder Hollingsworth the Group Leader for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation in Massachusetts. As a featured speaker, Arlene shared her personal story of living with alopecia and how her diagnosis at seventeen years old became the driving force behind LaceLayer.

Arlene’s words resonated with the audience as she recounted the challenges of wearing wigs as a shield to hide her hair loss, particularly due to the stigma associated with wig wearing. “We are here to empower women,” Arlene declared. “LaceLayer gives you the freedom to feel beautiful, secure, and confident every day if wigs are your choice of style." Arlene understands first hand how Alopecia can often be a silent struggle, but LaceLayer aims to bring these conversations to light, normalizing wig wearing and offering women dependable products they can trust.

The event featured a panel of inspiring speakers, including radio personality Danielle Johnson (Ms. HotSauce) and cranial prosthesis specialist Muffen Moses, and a heartfelt video message from Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, who, although unable to attend in person, expressed her unwavering support for the event and the ongoing efforts to raise awareness for alopecia. As a leading advocate for alopecia awareness, Congresswoman Pressley has been instrumental in bringing visibility to the struggles faced by those living with the condition. In her message, she acknowledged LaceLayer’s critical role in empowering individuals affected by alopecia.

LaceLayer extends heartfelt a thank you to Carla Smith, Wonder Hollingsworth and Lakisha Renee Austin for curating the event and providing a platform to raise awareness for alopecia. As Arlene closed, she reminded the audience that LaceLayer is more than just a product, it's a movement. “Our products are made for you. We understand the journey, and we’re here to provide the solutions that make you feel beautiful and confident every day.”

LaceLayer’s commitment to building community empowerment continues, and we remain devoted to creating spaces where conversations around alopecia can thrive, while providing high quality products that support confidence, security, and beauty.
